The Graphic Design and Digital Media Program at California Baptist University is structured to develop the student’s God-Given talents in graphic design, photography, web design and video/animation. The courses are instructed by working professionals on the latest technologies and equipment. Craft and idea are explored and honed thru projects and instruction.

Graphic Design + Photography Program Student Outcomes
Goal 1: Students graduating with a BAGD will be able to understand the principles of professional typography.
Objective 1.1: use the different classifications of typefaces
Objective 1.2: apply professional typography rules in setting body copy
Objective 1.3: apply typography pertaining to principles such as legibility, readability, and alignment
Objective 1.4: apply typography formatting such as tabbing and table
Objective 1.5: apply typography design and manipulation
Goal 2: Students graduating with a BAGD will be able to understand the principles of professional design techniques and best-practices workflows.
Objective 2.1: use the different design formal techniques
Objective 2.2: apply professional techniques using color, form and texture
Objective 2.3: describe the gestalt theories
Objective 2.4: articulate the principles of semiotics
Objective 2.5: apply layout principles and information organization to projects
Goal 3: Students graduating with a BAGD will be able to use the principles of professional photography, imaging techniques, and best-practices workflows.
Objective 3.1: use the camera and implement the principles of photography
Objective 3.2: apply professional techniques using image manipulation in messaging
Objective 3.3: demonstrate the principles of composition, light and form
Objective 3.4: demonstrate the principles of color and color manipulation
Goal 4: Students graduating with a BAGD will be able to use the principles of professional web design techniques and best-practices workflows.
Objective 4.1: identify the basics of html and css
Objective 4.2: demonstrate the basics of flash and actionscript
Objective 4.3: articulate the basics of wordpress
Objective 4.4: apply the principles of best-practices user experience
Goal 5: Students graduating with a BAGD will be able to effectively present the initial concepts and final design implementation orally and in writing.
Objective 5.1: explain their sketches and concept to the larger group and instructor
Objective 5.2: conceptualize their solution(s) by evaluating the problem through research and brainstorming
Objective 5.3: work within the constraints of the venue defined by the instructor or client
Objective 5.4: produce concepts using techniques defined by project constraints or self-explorations
Objective 5.5: mount project and then present to a larger group and rationalize the concept, direction and execution
Goal 6: Students graduating with a BAGD will be able to apply techniques to solve design problems from creation, through production, to final implementation.
Objective 6.1: work in a manner where instructor and student are in agreement on concept thru presentation, and possible revisions/additions to direction
